Finding Indigo!

July 8, 2014 · 3 Comments

I ordered some Japanese Indigo seeds from MilkweedQuilts on Etsy and sowed them this spring.

After they sprouted I transplanted them to the soil in my garden.
A couple of months of growing went by and while watering early one morning…

I spotted a blue stain…

and it slowly turned into the heavens!

Next comes the harvest…

I truly enjoyed reading Catherine McKinley’s new book,
INDIGO: In search of the color that seduced the world.

It is the history of indigo along with Catherine’s personal quest, travels and finds.

Your blog was very informative. Thank you for the information. Your leaf is very lovely against the design and I look forward to more reports of your indigo adventures.

Art Statement

When I take the time to look and to really see and to apply my "foolish" imagination, there are worlds within worlds within worlds to be discovered.

When I allow my eyes to be excited and fascinated and pleased at what they see, I begin a journey, inventing a path to the place I choose to go; and magic happens!
