Around & around…

September 1, 2008 · 2 Comments

Beetle_tile
You live on the surface of the water,
if surprised you swim in circles around and around…

You can see with those strange divided eyes,
above and below! Whirling around and around…

You can dive  deep down and stay for a long time,
due to all your bubbles around and around…

You swim in large groups and never do you
bump into each other! Whirling around and around…

This is why you are called a Whirligig,
around and around and around again!

A class of art…

I made this small "glass-art" by
fusing different pieces of colored glass.
Now I have used it for
an illustrative image in my artwork.
This glass art has now transcended
even further by being implemented
into another form of art!

Glass e-Stamp…

July 28, 2008 · 3 Comments

This summer I took the “Fused Glass” workshop at the Sarratt Studio Arts / Vanderbilt University. Our instructor was Nancie Roark, an artist that combines fused glass with silver jewelry techniques to create wonderful wearable art.
It was a fabulous class and I made all kinds of things from pendants, earrings, glass frames, a slumped bowl to a whole new little art-series of “BUGS”!

Here is one of the “bugs” I made, used as an illustration for a web-e’Stamp!
More of these will be coming up…

Grasshoppers have two pairs of wings, five eyes and no ears.
They hear with an auditory structure called “tympanum”,
that is located on their two front legs near the “knee” joint!

Art Statement

When I take the time to look and to really see and to apply my "foolish" imagination, there are worlds within worlds within worlds to be discovered.

When I allow my eyes to be excited and fascinated and pleased at what they see, I begin a journey, inventing a path to the place I choose to go; and magic happens!
