…more FLORA in the Shop!

April 23, 2019 · Leave a Comment

A new flora collection is being introduced in my SHOP, the KINDRED BOTANY!

This new botanical collection is from 100 small drawings of fantastic flora.
Each small drawing in itself turns to meet the possibilities of the digital world
where it is reborn in a related image. A very limited edition of 5 prints of each image.

Visit: KINDRED BOTANY at my shop, it is a very easy shop to navigate and super secured!
More on this specific collection here: https://lisarivas.com/kindred-botany/

I want to create a market where people from all walks of life can encounter each other
in an atmosphere of beautiful chaos,
the coming together of kindred souls. ~Rei Kawakubo

Serendipity …is a happy-dance!

May 6, 2018 · Leave a Comment

Creating art is often a happy situation, but it requires a certain stance.

One of pushing the envelope of serendipity, with a bit of photographic memory…
eventually (quicker than expected) it will reach that “imaginative” image.

And then (maybe) see a little story coming thru.

I wish that it could be as simple as that, but usually,
it takes, even more pushing and nudging, to make that magic happen!

Here is an example of setting forth:

[one_half] [one_half padding=”0 3px 0 0″]

Start with forcing a branch… tis a Dogwood!

[/one_half] [one_half_last padding=”0 0 0 2px”]

…so lovely, look at it’s lines + shadows…

[/one_half_last]

[one_half] [one_half padding=”0 3px 0 0″]

It’s an ever-flow of song and dance…

[/one_half] [one_half_last padding=”0 0 0 2px”]

..and a bit of “solo” in the umbras!

[/one_half_last]

Now let that imagination fly, one will see all kinds of activity!

[one_half] [one_half padding=”0 3px 0 0″]

Outline all that pertinacity spotted…

[/one_half] [one_half_last padding=”0 0 0 2px”]

…also exalting shapes into view!

[/one_half_last]

…this got ever so very complicated!

Almost Puzzle-Like…

Now for even more considerate scrutiny, finding the stanzas…

Almost discarded paperwhites… stopping waste!

February 6, 2018 · 1 Comment

…but not so discarded after all!

Upon the emergence of Social Media with FaceBook, Twitter and Instagram, personal blog posts, have fallen to the wayside like these discarded paperwhites. Today, most blogs feature posts that are very commercial, lacking authentic substance, words that are about selling.

My “part-time” job at a “high-end” floral shop in a grocery store is almost the same story. The amount of flowers and plants that go through that shop is mind boggling. Very few get to a home or even last, so many are discarded! It’s more than an impermanence thing.

Within the chaos of replanting comes to light a certain beauty.

I personally drag home all kinds of discards. Here’s a bag of spent paperwhites that were trying to entice customers with there fragrance and lovely freshness. But these bagged ones never made it anywhere, they came to live with me.

I purchased a few window boxes to use as holding beds for these sweet plants. If they make it inside through the winter, they will be planted outside again, returning to the earth. With hope they may bloom again, but in 2 years. All because someone cared.

Art Statement

When I take the time to look and to really see and to apply my "foolish" imagination, there are worlds within worlds within worlds to be discovered.

When I allow my eyes to be excited and fascinated and pleased at what they see, I begin a journey, inventing a path to the place I choose to go; and magic happens!
