Ode in May,

May 1, 2014 · 1 Comment

“What is so sweet and dear
As a prosperous morn in May,
The confident prime of the day,
And the dauntless youth of the year,
When nothing that asks for bliss,
Asking aright, is denied,
And half of the world a bridegroom is,
And half of the world a bride?”

– William Watson, Ode in May, 1880

Don’t walk behind me; I may not lead.
Don’t walk in front of me;
I may not follow.
Just walk beside me and be my friend.

HYDROS was the Greek protogenos of the primordial waters. Water was the first being to emerge at creation alongside Mud. The primordial mud solidified into GAIA (Earth) and with HYDROS produced KHRONOS the primeval god of time.
