Memorial Day…

May 26, 2008 · 2 Comments

…originally called Decoration Day,
is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation’s service.
National Moment of Remembrance
Encouraging individual Americans everywhere, to pause for one minute
at 3:00 p.m.
(local time) on Memorial Day, to remember and reflect on
the sacrifices made by so many to provide freedom for all.

The wearing of the “red poppy” to keep faith began when an American, Miss
Moira Michael, read the poem “In Flanders Field” and was so greatly
impressed that she decided always to wear a red poppy to keep the faith. She wrote a reply  to this poem in
November 1918 entitled :
 “We Shall Keep the Faith”

Today, enjoy a “Day of Peace” with family, friends and strangers!

Chirping feathers…

This little “flock of chippers” tweets you with a cheerful greeting today!

Use what talents you possess: the woods would be very silent
if no birds sang there except those that sang best. Henry Van Dyke

Tomorrow a bit about gardening…

…blooms the love of nature!
Or between the grass and the soil the "robin" finds his hearty meal ticket.
Its diet consists of invertebrates, such as grubs, caterpillars and grasshoppers.
Then fruits and berries during the cold months.

I am a being of Heaven and Earth, of thunder and lightning, of rain.

What is a soul?
It’s like "electricity" we don’t really know what it is,
but it’s a force that can light a room. Ray Charles

IF • Seed

I am using my weekly post of a “BOTANICA”
for this weeks topic of Illustration Friday which is “SEED“

I had been working on a new image “for seed”,
but it got so complex and convoluted that it started to choke!
Creativity can not be rushed nor forced, it needs to evolve…
it is sacred and…
I need a breath of fresh air…

Breath

Art Statement

When I take the time to look and to really see and to apply my "foolish" imagination, there are worlds within worlds within worlds to be discovered.

When I allow my eyes to be excited and fascinated and pleased at what they see, I begin a journey, inventing a path to the place I choose to go; and magic happens!
