TROPICAL FUSION – The making of it’s Logo!

January 14, 2014 · 8 Comments

“RADIANT ORCHID”
(a beautiful fusion of color)

PANTONE 18-3224 Color of the Year 2014

Here is a true invitation to innovation, to the modern and versatile Radiant Orchid a color that  encourages creativity + originality.
Imbued within, is the wonderful harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink.
Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and its rosy undertones emanate great joy, love and health.

Radiant Orchid mood-board by Lisa Rivas

I created a mood-board on Pinterest about this color so to see its possibilities,
here’s a selection that inspired my design for this logo of the BLOG-HOP.
I then did some research on Color + Physics!

Pantone RADIANT ORCHID -18-3224

Upon looking at the color values of Radiant Orchid’s  formulations,
it came to my attention that it was 19% Cyan (blue) and 70% Magenta (red)

a fusion = Radiant Orchid

In some way it was like a marriage of these 2 colors, brilliant!
Ah, …so RADIANT …of course a Tropical Fusion,
it is worth a hop. Towards this BLOG-HOP!

 Tropical Fusion, a blog-hop!

…and thus was born this logo and branding image for TROPICAL FUSION,
a color-pattern blog-hop!

…me at Surtex this year! – Booth *463

April 12, 2012 · Leave a Comment

“I’ll be at SURTEX in NYC for the first time this year at Booth *463 and the dates are May 20, 21 and 22!

I will be presenting three collections: “Each one is distinctive in theme, style, and how I created it.
Some are created digitally, some by hand.
Yet each is founded in my appreciation of the deep beauty and wonders of Nature.”

Here’s a little peek…

… for Good Luck!

January 1, 2011 · 4 Comments

A staple in the Southern diet for over 300 years, black-eyed peas have long been associated with good luck. A dish of peas or lentils is a New Year's tradition in most areas, bringing good luck and prosperity for this New Year 2011.

…a light in darkness.

…The sign of Christmas is a star, a light in darkness.
See it not outside yourself, but shinning in the Heaven within,
and accept it as the time of Christ has come.

Winter Solstice… today!

December 21, 2009 · 2 Comments

“In seed time learn, in harvest teach, in winter enjoy.” ~ William Blake

Winter Solstice photo by Lisa Rivas

The word Solstice, means in Latin Sun stands still. This is so because, the arc of the sun’s visibility in the sky seems to stabilize for the winter solstice – making the sun rise and set in the place for several days.

So why is the solstice on December 21st and Christmas held on December 25th?

Worldwide, interpretation of the event has varied from culture to culture, but most cultures have held a recognition of rebirth, involving holidays, festivals, gatherings, rituals or other celebrations around that time. And as long as there is a Winter Solstice there is the promise of life renewed.

When I take the time to look and to really see and to apply my "foolish" imagination, there are worlds within worlds within worlds to be discovered.

When I allow my eyes to be excited and fascinated and pleased at what they see, I begin a journey, inventing a path to the place I choose to go; and magic happens!
