No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent.

The optimist lives on the peninsula of infinite possibilities;
the pessimist is stranded on the island of perpetual indecision.

An attractive and powerful image! May I ask how you produced this one; I’m interested in the intense colours.
There are 8 rendered strokes of a wax line done with a tjanting batik tool. They are tricky to use, but are incredibly fluid.
The color is watercolor, there are about 10+ layers on this particular piece. Beautiful depth of color is achieved this way.
Ricepaper is the substrate and it is a very resilient paper.
I totally saturated the ricepaper to the point it passed to the other side. Some of my paintings are painted at certain points on the reverse side also to get this kind of intensity.
I love how the quilted lines are stitched like rays of hopeful light. I’m always visually uplifted here 🙂
Love the batique technique. Very interesting. It’s not often you see that sort of work on something other than fabric. Nice.
love it…the details and colors are amazing…
Wow, Really nice illo. Love the use of light in this piece.
Great work Lisa!
Cool imagery and nice post.

This is absolutely stunning – incredible colors and light! It also reminds me of a place I went to once when little – and has the same magical, glowing feeling about it. Beautiful and lovely:-) Wishing you a wonderful, fun Sunday too, linda
I so love your artwork! That is a great quote too.
I am pleasantly surprised by your art work today. It is more realistic as far as content, but it is still in your wonderful style. Although, your more abstract pieces are just as wonderful.
ahhh that we would all (everyone) realize we are sharing this small chunk of dirt…
heh, I used the Donne quote too, albeit in a more humorous manner 🙂
Love the piece…
Very cool!
I love the rich colors and the quilt effect, they’re so perfectly matched!
Wowwwwww! Strikingly beautiful masterpiece. And thank you for sharing how you create your pieces. Obviously, a lot of planning and work! My goodness, Lisa, do you really just whip these out each week, or do you have a massive collection of pieces that just HAPPEN to match the theme perfectly each week? Either way, you are just amazing.
