As legend has it:
The cross on which Jesus was crucified was constructed of dogwood.
This greatly distressed the “Dogwood Tree”, so God then decreed from that day forth, that the dogwood would never grow large enough to be used to make a cross. Henceforth, it shall be small, slender, bent and twisted.
It’s blossoms shall be in the form of a cross each bearing a rusty indentation as of a nail. In the center of the flower, stained with blood, will be a crown of thorns, so that all who see it will “remember.”

Dogwood is so named from the “dags” (skewers) being made of it. It’s wood is exceedingly hard and serviceable for many utilitarian purposes.
Oh, this is a beautiful piece. Very nice, indeed!
So beautiful, Lisa. The colors and patterns are wonderful and draw the eye all around the image.
I can always count on you to have something new and wonderful every day. 🙂
So beautiful, Lisa. What brought you to the subject of dogwood and the crucifixion?
Thank for hugging me last night. I can’t even explain how much it meant.
Oh that’s really special Lisa. I can’t explain what it is, but something about it really draws me in 🙂
I can only say WOW! Your work is breath-taking and refreshingly original. Beautiful colours of an almost mystical tone and hue. And such a breadth in different mediums and styles!
Very impressive and enjoyable.
Cheers!
