She is a tree
of life to them
that lay
hold upon her:

and happy
is every one
that retaineth
her.

Bible quote

20″ x 20″ • papel picado – papercut • Tyvek®, mixed media, custom frame • Lisa Rivas © 2004 • “Mom”

I designed and created this piece to honor and remember my mother, she is just in a different dimensional plane.

Our death is not an end if we can live on in our children and the younger generation.
For they are us, our bodies are only wilted leaves on the tree of life. Albert Einstein

That is very beautiful, Lisa! I can’t even imagine the amount of time it took to do all those details.

Lisa, this is so beautiful and touching – and the words too – I can’t even begin to imagine how you created this, but it’s just breathtaking. You are an amazing artist and writer – and this is such a wonderful tribute to your mother.

    Hi, Lisa,
I have finally gotten a little time to look at all of your blog entries that I’ve missed and….WOW! I am so impressed with all the wonderful work you do! It was just great to see some pieces I knew from the Gallery, to see some others that are completely new to me, and brand new ones hot off the “press”… like the little glass bugs.
Of course I love them all! and continue to be amazed by your infinite creativity. Muy Bueño!
    Hugs and best,
    Carol

Art Statement

When I take the time to look and to really see and to apply my "foolish" imagination, there are worlds within worlds within worlds to be discovered.

When I allow my eyes to be excited and fascinated and pleased at what they see, I begin a journey, inventing a path to the place I choose to go; and magic happens!
