IF • Electricity

May 10, 2008 · 3 Comments

I am a being of Heaven and Earth, of thunder and lightning, of rain.

What is a soul?
It’s like "electricity" we don’t really know what it is,
but it’s a force that can light a room. Ray Charles

IF • Seed

May 6, 2008 · 5 Comments

I am using my weekly post of a “BOTANICA”
for this weeks topic of Illustration Friday which is “SEED“

I had been working on a new image “for seed”,
but it got so complex and convoluted that it started to choke!
Creativity can not be rushed nor forced, it needs to evolve…
it is sacred and…
I need a breath of fresh air…

Jotting dots,

May 5, 2008 · 3 Comments

In the creative process the jot of a dot is usually the first and primal action.
Bubbles, pollen, seeds, are variations on the jotting of dots compulsion…
And the sun is one JOT of a DOT.

Supple boughs…

Upon pausing and observing the resilience and beauty
of a simple branch or of a delicate flower
nature shows us how compliant, obsequious and lithe it is.

Most branches bend readily without breaking,
nor do they become deformed or ugly.

Learn the wisdom of compromise, for it is better to bend a little than to break. Jane Wells

Nature has a funny way of breaking what does not bend.

Songs with words…

April 30, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The appearance of a robin is considered a harbinger of spring.
It is among the first birds to sing at dawn, and its song consists of several discrete units that sound like “Cheerily, cheer up, cheer up, cheerily, cheer up”!

Another wonderful song bird is the Yellow Warbler and it’s song is a rapid musical
“Sweet-sweet-sweet-I’m-so-sweet.”

The common alarm call for song birds is a musical “chip.”

Art Statement

When I take the time to look and to really see and to apply my "foolish" imagination, there are worlds within worlds within worlds to be discovered.

When I allow my eyes to be excited and fascinated and pleased at what they see, I begin a journey, inventing a path to the place I choose to go; and magic happens!
