Today is Earth Day!
An observance date intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s environment.
Did you know an “earthworm” has 5 hearts?
This “primitive”, blind and sensitive little creature loves and helps the earth stay healthy by breaking down dead organic matter and turning the soil. The earth without worms would soon become cold, hard-bound, and void of fermentation, and consequently sterile.
The earthworm is a great builder – a builder of fertile topsoil,
in itself the sustainer of all civilization.

Earthworms, actually, act as a barometer for soil health!
I love the ‘Mud Pies’ and other new posts. You probably, as have I, started digging around in the Earth planting things and have, as have I, rediscovered Earth worms, AKA, nitecrawlers! They are by their mere presence or lack thereof a good barometer of the health of the soil. An essential link from the earth to the creatures that inhabit it.

Love the worms!
Lucas and Vida are looking well! They are in their element. Truly beautiful. I wonder why you chose to draw the worms rather than go find some oozing ones, as Susan would say ;o)
