Mother of Millions,

May 11, 2009 · 15 Comments

The earth is at the same time mother,
she is mother of all that is natural,
mother of all that is human.

She is the mother of all,
for contained in her are the seeds of all.

Hildegard of Bingen (German abbess, 1098 – 1179)

Mother-of-Millions

This piece was inspired from a wonderful “photo” of Julie’s at  A Succulent Life

“Mother of Thousands” (Kalanchoe diagremontiana) reproduces by producing tiny plantlets that drop from the edges of its leaves, it has lost the ability to make viable seeds. This succulent has shifted some of the genetic processes that make seeds to it’s leaves.

Wow, this is so gorgeous! It’s like it is full of little jewels. Is it for your show? I’m sure everything you put in the show will be fabulous! Wish I could be there.

This is not a reproduction, it is original digital artwork…
No, it will not be in the exhibit – Had not considered it… I am wanting to print on metal… so I might try that. The exhibit is called “Brave New Art” and it is 6 artists with different kinds of digital art. It is in July and in Joplin MO at Spiva (a small art museum)… Most of the work is already done, but I’m in the finishing and prepping stage. I will be posting about it.

I love the details you see and the way you always manage to feature them in your art. I always look forward to your posts, but relate to the tired and busy thing too. Good luck with your exhibition. How exciting! I wish I could come to it. gorgeous stuff Lisa! HCM

When I allow my eyes to be excited and fascinated and pleased at what they see, I begin a journey, inventing a path to the place I choose to go; and magic happens!
