IF • Adapt

Adapts-d •••
We talk of our mastery of nature,
which sounds very grand;

but the fact is we respectfully
"adapt ourselves", first to her ways.
Clarence Day

Arising at the crack of dawn, so very very early,
it was then that I saw DayBreak's sudden peek!

As a thin wedge of light spreading for miles,
it then awakened so many songs with it's smile…

The cradle rocks above an abyss, and common sense tells us that our existence
is but a brief crack of light between two eternities of darkness. Vladimir Nabokov

Pillars…

…straight, strong and tall support the tender, soft and beautiful.
For it is the style in the "Mundo Vegetal".
A realm so full and sustaining, the source of abundance and well being.

Petals paper thin are meticulously arranged crowning the heads of these pillars.
Called "corollas" (little crowns) they open and unfold presenting,
a splendid offering of scents, hues and colors plus

an amazing golden possibility…

Mother of Millions,

May 11, 2009 · 15 Comments

The earth is at the same time mother,
she is mother of all that is natural,
mother of all that is human.

She is the mother of all,
for contained in her are the seeds of all.

Hildegard of Bingen (German abbess, 1098 – 1179)

Mother-of-Millions

This piece was inspired from a wonderful “photo” of Julie’s at  A Succulent Life

“Mother of Thousands” (Kalanchoe diagremontiana) reproduces by producing tiny plantlets that drop from the edges of its leaves, it has lost the ability to make viable seeds. This succulent has shifted some of the genetic processes that make seeds to it’s leaves.

Art Statement

When I take the time to look and to really see and to apply my "foolish" imagination, there are worlds within worlds within worlds to be discovered.

When I allow my eyes to be excited and fascinated and pleased at what they see, I begin a journey, inventing a path to the place I choose to go; and magic happens!
