Papel Picado,

She is a tree
of life to them
that lay
hold upon her:

and happy
is every one
that retaineth
her.

Bible quote

I designed and created this piece to honor and remember my mother, she is just in a different dimensional plane.

Our death is not an end if we can live on in our children and the younger generation.
For they are us, our bodies are only wilted leaves on the tree of life. Albert Einstein

A secret holding…

September 25, 2008 · 2 Comments

This beautiful package
is wrapped in green!
It emerges, it grows…
Then it slightly opens
and presents something!
That feeds, that nurtures…
>>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >>>
And sometimes these
little nurturing gems spark!
Into gifts of verdant life…

To see things in the seed, that is genius. Lao Tzuhen

Life does not accommodate you, it shatters you. It is meant to, and it couldn’t do it better.
Every seed destroys its container or else there would be no fruition. Florida Scott-Maxwell

Who is Roy G. Biv?

September 23, 2008 · 2 Comments

Fly-Buzz by LisaRivas

Color is the visible manifestation
of light’s wavelength.
Roy G. Biv is a mnemonic*
for the sequence of hues in
the visible spectrum, in rainbows,
and in order from longest
to shortest wavelength:

Red, Orange, Yellow, Green,

Blue, Indigo and Violet.

White light contains all colors, a “PRISM” can divide the colors and make them appear!

• fused glass – illustration printed as an archival pigment print, 100% rag paper

Combining image layers with different blending modes,
in graphic applications will have similar “visible spectrum” effects!

*Mnemonic is something intended to assist the memory, as a verse or formula.

Mnemosyne the name of the goddess of memory in Greek mythology.
Zeus and Mnemosyne slept together for nine consecutive nights and thereby created the nine Muses.

Cause and effect…

As I placed all the little folded papers,
with your names into a bowl to…
I happen to breath on them,
one of them "flew out" of the bowl!

Like a little grasshopper jumping to be,
and this would be the one and
it is Diane! I just smiled…
because this was her "first time ever"
to leave a comment
(she emailed me asking me how to make a comment)
and she is now a winner!

Way to go Diane!
Now you need to go and visit
all "the wonderful people" who
left a comment and learn about them.
That is all I ask of you in return…

Email me your mailing address,
so I can send you this notebook that now has your
"precious name" on it!

And to everyone who participated thank you for your comments,
they were wonderful, inspiring and downright fabulous, such poets…

You all made me feel so appreciated and happy!
Satisfaction does not come with achievement, but with effort. Full effort is full victory. Mahatma Gandhi

PS1: I just found out Diane has a site! Here it is: https://diane-hamilton.blogspot.com/

PS2: Also the notebook is shown on the Quilting Arts / Cloth Paper Scissors® website!

Art Statement

When I take the time to look and to really see and to apply my "foolish" imagination, there are worlds within worlds within worlds to be discovered.

When I allow my eyes to be excited and fascinated and pleased at what they see, I begin a journey, inventing a path to the place I choose to go; and magic happens!
