A Red Tip!

January 30, 2013 · 4 Comments

A Red Tip by Lisa Rivas ©
This morning I was out in my garden picking up broken branches and twigs
that were scattered about, since there was a rainstorm with lots of wind last night. And I decided to check for a sign of spring, since those robins were hopping about the other day.
Well, upon closer look at the soil a tiny RED tip peeked out at me, I was so amazed at the “intense” color. Then I noticed more and more and more of these little RED dots, they were everywhere. A little sign of renewal.

Now, this is a definite “tip”…
that spring will soon be here!

Ever so small (1/8″ to 1/2″) is this “MINUTE HEART” from the soil.

Kissing the Shoreline…

January 14, 2013 · 1 Comment

“Because there’s nothing more beautiful than the way the ocean refuses to stop kissing the shoreline,
no matter how many times it’s sent away.”  ― Sarah Kay

Guanta-Ocean by © Lisa Rivas

“Guanta next to The Ocean” by  © Lisa Rivas — 72″ x 72″ a variation of the original painting

“Waves are the voices of tides. Tides are life,” murmured Niko.
“They bring new food for shore creatures, and take ships out to sea.
They are the ocean’s pulse, and our own heartbeat.”
― Tamora Pierce, Sandry’s Book

How inappropriate to call this planet Earth when it is quite clearly Ocean. ~ Arthur C. Clarke

Up coming blog-hop…

January 9, 2013 · Leave a Comment

Tomorrow’s Blog-Hop!
Over 50 Surface Pattern Designers from all over the world (including myself) have created
wonderful collections inspired by

Pantone’s 2013 Color of the Year
EMERALD GREEN
and  organized to showcase them in an awesome bloghop
to celebrate New Year’s and our willingness to fly as professionals.
This event was curated by Rosie Martinez-Dekker from Believe Creative Studios

So what’s a Blog-Hop and how does it work? It is a nice way to promote not only the work and ideas of many, but also their blogs. The first person to start it writes a post on his/her blog and adds a link to the next blog at the end of the post. Everyone does it like this until you hop to the last blog of the list.

It will be awesome, inspirational and with lots of beautiful brand new work that we can’t wait to share with all of you.
Each designer will be creating a mini collection based on their own interpretation of the theme and showcasing each their own unique style.
Now save the date on your calendars, January 10th to 13th is the duration of the hop,
3 days of beautiful surface designs! So you don’t want to miss it…

Some fairy dust…

January 7, 2013 · 4 Comments

I signed up to the e-course “Life Book, a celebration and honoring of YOU”,
a year-long mixed media art class organized by Tamara Laporte from Willowing Arts.

Our first project was to create our Fairy God Parent. Here’s a glimpse…
I can see the fairy dust spreading around the studio.
This is the most whimsical I have ever gotten… Let’s see where this leads me to!

Art Statement

When I take the time to look and to really see and to apply my "foolish" imagination, there are worlds within worlds within worlds to be discovered.

When I allow my eyes to be excited and fascinated and pleased at what they see, I begin a journey, inventing a path to the place I choose to go; and magic happens!
