Satyrid, also called satyr butterfly, any of several butterflies of the family Satyridae,
having gray or brown wings marked with "eye-spots."

This group contains nearly half of the known diversity of brush-footed butterflies.
It is estimated that the true number of Satyrinae species may exceed 2,400.
They are generally weak fliers and often shun bright sunlight.

To us all!

August 20, 2008 · 4 Comments

Small flowers, cheerfully standing tall,
always smiling, to us all.

Soft petals, in the sun they shine,
waving to us all, in a friendly line.

Sweet flowers, dressed in vivid color galore,
beaming to us all,
for they will dance together once more.

Detach

August 15, 2008 · 21 Comments

Detachment involves present-moment living – living in the here and now.
We allow life to happen instead of forcing and trying to control it.
We relinquish regrets over the past and fears about the future.
We make the most of each day.
Melody Beattie

Tomato Art Fest…

August 7, 2008 · 4 Comments

…is a celebrated neighborhood festival in East Nashville, TN.
It started as a theme for an art show five years ago and this year’s festival will be held this weekend on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 8 and 9.

For the festival I devised a commemorative –Tomato Art Fest– “e-Stamp” that will be premiering tomorrow Friday. It will be available for purchase at Z’s Deli where the “Web–eStamp EXPO” is still showing. Or at the “Art and Invention Gallery” and also here.

Diners can celebrate East Nashville’s Tomato Art Fest Saturday, Aug. 9 while enjoying a feast for the tummy, eyes, and ears. Z’s Deli will be serving up tomato treats and on Saturday The Real Time Trio will be hosting its second Annual Blues Jam from noon-4 p.m. Local musicians will sign up prior to the festival and sit in with each other and play some low down blues.

Art Statement

When I take the time to look and to really see and to apply my "foolish" imagination, there are worlds within worlds within worlds to be discovered.

When I allow my eyes to be excited and fascinated and pleased at what they see, I begin a journey, inventing a path to the place I choose to go; and magic happens!
